Management Team

Mr. Stephen Dondolo is the CEO of APG, running the office and overseeing all APG investments. He is supported by a Group Financial Manager, Personal Assistant and a Receptionist. Its investments are strategically grouped into four portfolios of Fishing; Gaming; Beverages and Mining, Engineering & Energy. The rationale is to group all sector related investments together so as to inculcate a culture of synergising, systems integration and streamlining of business processes; and to ensure proper board representation and value-adding by APG board representation.

We believe in business partnerships that benefit all partners. APG has vast experience in initiating, developing and maintaining strong and profitable relationships with business partners and associates. A key example is our investments in the Fishing Industry. The role of the Chief Executive Officer is emphasized by the immense synergies that exist is the pooling of resources between the partners.

Pioneer Fishing is well vested with APG's "4+1" strategy, which is based on operational excellence, cost reduction, capital stewardship and profitable growth. APG exercises this superior strategy based on our vision, performance, people and values. With Standard Bank and African Pioneer's experience in the above, APG and prospective partners will find themselves in alignment with these fundamental business philosophies.

Sakhiwo G Zamisa

Chairman

Mr. Zamisa is currently the Human Resources Manager at Borbet SA. He has backgrounds and wide experiences in Human Resource Management, Industrial Engineering and Production Management having previously worked as the Human Resources Manager and Industrial Engineer at a number of companies including Faurecia Interior Systems, Continental Tyre SA, Ford Motor Company, Volkswagen South Africa and Nampak Corrugated. He has been very intimately involved in a number of key areas of human resource development, training and transformation. He has been closely involved in Skills Development Facilitation, introduction of Learnerships, Succession Planning and Employment Equity etc.

Chairman of the Board of African Pioneer Group, Director of Uitenhage Despatch Skills Development (UDSD)(Pty)Ltd. Member of Medimed Board of Trustees. Elder at Lorraine Methodist Church.

He holds an MBA from the University of Stellenbosch, and among several other diplomas, has one in Company Direction through the Graduate Institute of Management and Technology (GIMT) and Institute of Directors (IOD).


Mzukisi Stephen Dondolo

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Dondolo, an Eastern Cape businessman, was named "Entrepreneur of the Year" by IMM in 1990 and the Business Partners Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002. He has a degree in Business Administration and a Diploma in Marketing. He has on two occasions been selected for the USA-SA-Leadership Exchange Programme, which enabled him to visit the United States and other countries.

As a director of several businesses, he advises, leads, motivates and controls the development of a diverse portfolio of business and community interests. He is a Director, council member and chairman of numerous boards and committees including the BKB Audit Committee. He serves as a director on the board of the Coca Cola Fortune, a subsidiary of Coca Cola SABCO, and is chairman of Pioneer Slots and Pioneer Fishing, the fouth largest fishing company in South Africa.

Mr. Dondolo has travelled extensively and has gained vast experience in new business development. He is involved in various sporting organisations and community development programmes.


Nomkhitha Mfono

Executive Director

Nomkhitha Mfono is currently a Junior Manager at JP Morgan Worldwide Securities Services where she manages a team within the NAV pricing Space.

She has worked in the financial services industry for over 5 years. Her career started at Future growth Asset Management as a trainee Compliance Auditor and has worked as a Fund accountant for State Street. Prior to her current position she works as Business Analyst and Reporting Specialist (Hedge).

Nomkhitha Mfono holds a B-tech Degree in Taxation from the Cape Peninsula University of technology.



Ms Zola Baba Tshefu

Non-Executive Director

Ms Zola Baba Tshefu is a director in Elite Bingo. Zola is a founder and managing director of LiLiBo Investments (Pty) Ltd, a Black female owned consulting and investment holding company in the Eastern Cape, focused primarily in the property, mineral and energy resources and industrial sectors. As a respected Black Business woman, she has held a number of key positions in the public sector such as the CEO of the Eastern Cape Tourism Board (“ECTB”), the CEO of the Kouga Development Agency (“KDA”), and Investment Promotion Specialist of the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (“ECDC”).

Whilst at the ECTB, Zola led the turnaround of the organization and development of a Tourism Trade Growth Strategy that set the way for robust tourism growth for the Eastern Cape. During her tenure at the KDA, she established the agency; developed policies, systems and procedures; recruited staff; developed corporate & business plan; developed a master plan for the core mandate area; secured further funding from IDC and the parent municipalities; secured the land from provincial government; and concluded an Expression of Interest process where three qualifying bidders were shortlisted for the development of the core mandate area and initiated the Proposal Call process up the point of securing three proposals with development worth more than R1 billion rand. During her tenure with the ECDC, Zola facilitated new investments and expansion projects to values in excess of R2.3 billion that helped secure over 1 500 direct jobs in the Eastern Cape.

She also currently serves on the boards of Eyethu Fishing (Pty) Ltd, Umoya Communications (Pty) Ltd TA Algoa FM, African Pioneer (Pty) Ltd and Pioneer Slots (Pty) Ltd. She is a member of Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University Council and also serves as external member of Coega Development Corporation Procurement Committee.



Sivuyile Ntlabezo

Non-Executive Director

Sivuyile Ntlabezo, has a background in law as he has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and has served as a Director on one of the top Law Firms in PE, Boqwalana Loon & Connellan. He was also Partner of Ntlabezo Schady Associates. He is now the Director of BNI Attorneys.

He was a member of Council for PE Technikon now known as NMMU, a member of the Governing Council for the Port Elizabeth College and served as an instructor for the Law Society in his capacity as a qualified and experienced conveyance, essentially educating attorneys on conveyancing aspects of legal practice in various fields. Mr Ntlabezo has been in the Eastern Cape African Chamber of Commerce – Executive Committee – (1999-2003)Director of South African Institute of Black Property Practitioners.



Lionel Billings CA(SA)

Non-Executive Director

Lionel is married to Juliet and has two children Cassidy and Jordan.

Lionel has worked for companies such as KPMG, Volkswagen SA, Telkom SA, Business Partners Ltd and the Coega Development Corporation. He is currently employed with Coega as its CFO. He has also been instrumental in starting a number of companies as an entrepreneur.

Through the various roles Lionel has gained extensive insight, knowledge and experience in various industries including their respective challenges, risk and controls. He is passionate about development. His qualifications include BComm Acc, BComm Acc (Hons), and he qualified as a chartered accountant with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) after serving articles with KPMG. He has served and serves on various boards in both the private and public sector.



Sivu Boqwana (Née Matama

Non-Executive Director

Sivu is an admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. She has more than 10 years’ experience in commercial law, compliance and/or policy issues. She has a particular love for competition law. Prior to joining African Pioneer Group, she has sat on various boards including the board of Continental Tyre South Africa, the South Africa Manufacturers Corporation as well as the South Africa Tyre Recycling Plan.









Brendon Wood

Chief Financial Officer

Brendon Wood is the Chief Financial Officer of the African Pioneer Group. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2001 at KPMG South Africa. Prior to joining the African Pioneer Group, his roles included that of a Group Financial Director (for a JSE listed Industrial and Automotive Products manufacturer), a Chief Executive Officer (for a privately owned Footwear Manufacturer and Retailer) and a Strategy Consultant (focused on consumer goods and transaction services). These roles led to Brendon gaining extensive executive management experience in the areas of Strategy, Finance, Operational Management as well as Mergers & Acquisitions.




Tandisa Nkonki

Administration Officer

Mrs Tandisa Nkonki is currently African Pioneer Group Administration Officer. Tandisa is a registered Accounting Officer and Tax Practitioner with the Institute of Accounting and commerce. After qualifying for a National Diploma in Accounting at then Wits Technikon now University of Johannesburg in 1997, she obtained a Certificate in Taxation of Individuals and Companies with UNISA in 1998 and in 2014 obtained a Certificate in Business Accounting with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

Tandisa worked for various companies in Gauteng and the Eastern Cape responsible mainly for Accounting and Office Administration prior to joining African Pioneer Group.





Camia Geldenhuys

Group Legal and Compliance Officer

Joined the African Pioneer Group in early 2017.

She was admitted as an Attorney and Notary in the Grahamstown High Court in 2007. Prior to joining the African Pioneer Group, Camia was a director at Daniel Saks Incorporated. This firm recently merged with an existing law firm in Port Elizabeth and she took the opportunity to venture into the Corporate environment.

Camia has acquired extensive legal experience in practicing law in private practice for over 12 years. Amongst her other achievements, she was one of three Nominees in the Processional Category of the BWA Regional Business Achiever Awards in 2013.
